Happy Valentine’s Day eve! I thought I could show you another Valentine’s Day outfit, or I could show how to make these adorable heart shaped biscuits for an easy Valentine’s Day breakfast with your favorite guy or girl. Biscuits won out, duh!
These biscuits are yummy, flaky, AND whole wheat! Yes, you read that right! I didn’t know wheat biscuits could be so flaky but I’m super found I found this recipe! They can be cut into normal circles for every other day of the year, but I thought the heart shapes were just too cute for a fun and easy Valentine’s Day breakfast.
First start off by gathering your ingredients. You will need the following:
*2 cups whole wheat flour
*4 teaspoons baking powder
*1/2 teaspoon salt
*4 tablespoons cold, unsalted butter
*1 cup milk of your choice (2% here)
Preheat your oven to 450 degrees. Or if your oven often overcooks like mine, 425. 😉
Next, mix all the dry ingredients in a medium bowl. Then cut the butter into the dry mixture either using a fork or a pastry blender. Keep cutting the butter in until the mix is like a sand or pebble texture.
After that, pour in the milk and mix to combine. Knead the dough in bowl with your hands, turning it over a few times. Flour a surface and pat the dough out until it’s about 3/4″ thick. At this point, I like to roll over it too so that the top is nice and smooth.
Next, take the your heart cutter (I found mine at Wal-Mart in a set) and cut out your heart biscuits. I usually cut as much as I can, then take the remaining dough and roll it out again to get as many biscuits as I can.
Place your newly cut biscuits onto an ungreased baking sheet and bake in the pre-heated oven for 10-12 minutes. Mine were done in 10 minutes, so be sure to keep an eye on them.
Viola! You have the most adorable and easy Valentine’s Day breakfast for your hunny! These really are so yummy. We like to eat them with a little butter and honey and pair them with eggs and bacon. Yum!
