Sometimes in life, we find products that change us for the better. Ok, maybe that’s a bit overdramatic, but there are products that really rock your socks off from time to time.
The It Cosmetics CC Cream is just that kind of product. It’s nothing new on the market. In fact, I believe it’s been out for a couple of years, and though I’ve seen the amazing reviews, I hadn’t splashed out. Every time I went into Ulta to swatch it, the shade Fair always seemed to have a gray undertone. That deterred me from buying it for a while, until a couple of weeks ago. I decided to see what all the hype was about despite the strange color swatch.
I feel like I should preference this review with a little skin breakdown because this was the very reason I was looking for a new foundation. Every winter, my skin likes to go through this phase where my nose flakes. For dry/combination skin, this is so annoying! Your T-zone is supposedly the oily part of your face, not the dry part. So here I am with a nose that has large pores and blackheads… and also flaky skin. Like what is that?! Needless to say, I needed a foundation that would not accentuate my dry patches. It’s a feat, let me tell you. I also happen to prefer a more natural looking foundation with sheer to medium coverage and a dewy finish. There are multiple products that meet those qualifications out there, but after Anna from The Anna Edit raved so highly about the It Cosmetics CC Cream, I knew I needed to try it.
According to the claims on this product, it is a multi-tasking corrective cream that offers full coverage, skin protection with the SPF 50, and a skincare product all in one. It also claims to improve texture, brightness, and increase hydration. My first impression was really good. It applied smoothly and evenly, and the texture was almost mousse-like, which I enjoyed. I was also very surprised by the coverage. A little really does go a long way with this product. One pump gives me sheer to medium coverage, depending on exactly how terrible my skin is acting that day, and one and a half pumps gives me pretty full coverage. The best part is that it looks like skin, not a mask. It lays as best as it can over my dry, flaky patches on my nose, but in reality, no foundation can make that look flawless. Matte foundations would be an atrocity right now because they would emphasize everything. That’s why I appreciate this CC cream’s skin-like finish. After trying a few different application methods, I decided I loved applying it best with the Bobbi Brown Full Coverage Face Brush. The size of the brush makes for perfect blending every time. The exact fluffiness of the bristles and the consistency of the foundation are a match made in heaven. Between this and MakeUp Forever Stick Foundation, I will never want for a good foundation again!
As I said, I’ve only been using it for a couple of weeks so I haven’t witnessed dramatic results as far as skincare goes, but as a foundation, I’m loving it! I can only hope and pray that it helps with my problematic skin right now. Pregnancy is not being nice to me at the moment, so look out for a post about battling hormonal skin soon! If you’re on the hunt for a new foundation or just feel like shaking things up a bit, I definitely recommend this CC cream. It really did live up to all the hype, and I’m in love!
