It’s almost officially fall, and that means transitional outerwear is very much a staple piece at the moment. However I do feel quite silly writing this post right now because temps spiked back up to summer weather this week in Mississippi. But don’t be fooled. I will be ready nonetheless.
I always find myself wishing we had more (or a better) fall in Mississippi because what normally happens is the tease of a few fall moments, true fall for possibly 3 days max, and then it’s either back up to a muggy 70 degrees for Thanksgiving and Christmas or we’re plunged into frigid-ness. You really just never know what you’re going to get.
So needless to say, I pretty much live for those truly autumnal days where light layers are queen. The weather is chilly but not too cold, so you need a good transitional outerwear piece that’s heavy enough to keep you cozy but not too thick when those temperatures rise later in the day.
One of my favorite options for transitional outerwear is the trench coat. The fabric is absolutely perfect for this time of year, and the silhouette is so classic! The most classic of all trench coats is a midi length, but they make so many fun options now in duster forms and even cropped versions. Mine is a vintage find from high school, and I just love this rust color (very autumnal if I do say so myself) and the detailing around the wrists. But y’all know I found some of my favorites at the moment for you!
